Sitting in the caffe LA in Zadar, Croatia, nursing the best coffee Ive had for ages and wretzling with the keyboard.
Croatia has been amazing, too amaying to go into detail here, but all the superlatives cannot describe sunset on the marbled church spires, the fortress walls of Dubrovnik at dawn, the aching beauty of the mountains adorned with tiny churches and wild irises, the unreal azure waters that we have kayaked in. Its been great, paddling to tiny islands and past villages ofstone and terracotta with Judy and Krissa. Now we are headed north, visiting medieval towns, the most wonderful of which has been Trogir, with a beautiful campanile and square, and themost wonderful studio loft accommodation we have found yet! We also visited Split, most famous for the retirement home of Diocletian, the Roman empire who liked to find creative ways to kill christians - his mausoleum is now the church. The huge fortified villa he built has been modified over the years, people made rooms of appartment chambers and streets of corridors, and windows in the fortifications, but the roman grandeur of the place still remains.
Tomorrow we will go to the Plitvice national park, an incredible cascade from 16 lakes, and then on to Zagreb and then Venice. Pictures soon!
